I was perusing CNN.com just now to see how the right-wing media would spin the massacre that was tonight's Presidential debate.  Lo and behold, I see this headline:  Poll:  Last debate too close to call.  I'm thinking, "hmmm that's funny because 5 minutes ago I saw a couple of posts that said that the CNN snap poll showed Obama winning 48-40".  That 8 point margin seems wide enough to call, right?  So I opened the link, and here is what it says, verbatim:

"Debate viewers split 48% for Obama and 40% for Romney in the poll, a margin within the sampling error of plus or minus 4.5%"

And then all I can say is that for sure CNN is committing journalistic malpractice.  This is utter garbage reporting, especially on a matter as significant as the presidential election of the most important superpower on the planet.  It's crap like this that keeps this election from being an utter blowout.  Even when it is a blowout, they just ignore the facts and say that it's not.  Honestly, this is a simple insult to the intelligence of their readers.

OK, sorry for the rant, but I have had enough of the lamestream media.  I'm going to bed.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
