The Boston Globe is reporting today that in 2006, when he was governor, Mitt Romney's administration selected a suspected fraud artist's company to investigate the New England Compounding Center, currently linked the deadly meningitis outbreak.
In 2006, the Romney Administration chose Pharmacy Support Inc. of Illinois, founded by Ross Caputo, to review operations of the New England Compounding Center. At the time, Caputo was awaiting trial in federal court on a 2003 fraud indictment. He was subsequently convicted in 2006 and received a ten-year sentence for fraudulently marketing a sterilizer that blinded 18 people.
