First of all, this is something that Paul Ryan AKA Eddie Munster, who wants to be Vice President of the United States actually said, in an interview with WJHL on August 23, admits that he believes 1) rape is a form of conception and 2) it’s equal to conception by consensual sex because both produce life and this is why he opposes the rape exception for abortion. Are you afraid yet? Then comes Todd Akin, who I question whether he lost brain cells, a lot of them when he lost his hair. He said "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist, and not attacking the child." (Notice that there is no mention of the horrible situation the woman has just gone through...that doesn't matter, it is only a woman after all, and we are talking about zygotes.). Ah! I will give you five million of Donald's "lying bag of poop" money if you show me where that is actually proven. Then Akin further embarrassed himself by saying that Claire McCaskell was more "ladylike in the last election", which I had NO idea was a part of the criteria needed for entry into the Congressional chamber, and actually thought went out in the 1950s. He is but one of the GOP dopes out there. There are more....sad to say. The same night over in Indiana, Richard Murdoch, in a debate with his Democrat opponent, and the libertarian one said: "I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen," Just a day or two ago, Romney taped an ad for Murdoch, and now has refused to take it down. Now, that says to me that he agreed with the basic sentiment of Murdoch's comments. If you disagree, you demand that this ad not run, and you back away from this jerk, which says to me that Romney agrees with what Murdoch said.
If you women out there are not afraid, you need to be afraid. This is not just about abortion. It is about demeaning women, and degrading them down to something that gets raped, and men get to decide what happens next. In only ONE of these terrible comments was there any sadness for what the woman has just gone through, and frankly, it was said so idiotically interspersed with his supposition that GOD decides who gets raped.
If this God, (I have no belief in a God like this, and neither should you, and Jesus would have NEVER said that rape was OK under ANY circumstances, he was not that kind of man) that decides who gets raped, how does he do it? Does he pick a particularly sad looking woman, or one who is having an crazy dream, so he whispers into the rapist's head, DO HER. This is a God that I have NO intention of ever meeting or knowing.
How little these small minded GOP men respect women, and how much more they care about their own beliefs and whether they get they TV play they want. We now have a Presidential candidate who basically endorsed the I believe God knows and condones that rape is not an excuse to abort a fetus, not taking into account how traumatized the woman is. She is traumatized, YOU IDIOTS, and has had a sacred part of her ripped away, and you want to jump in and decide how to manage it. GET AWAY FROM US. This is OUR decision, should NEVER be yours, and it infuriates me that you believe you should have ANY say in this whatsoever. It is between the woman, her physician, and the counselors who are helping her through this calamity.
Because of what YOU believe, after all of this, you want to make her have the baby of the person who raped her? Seriously, I believe this entire Republican party has gone off a cliff. Have any of us women demanded that men get vasectomies, or make you tell us why you want viagra or cialis? It isn't even close to the horror you want to inflict on us, but how do you counter this? I am not asking ANYONE be pro-choice. I am asking people to let US be pro-choice FOR OURSELVES. Isn't that part of what the founding of America is all about? Have we ever asked you men that you give us your sexual history so we know where THAT THING has been? NO, because we know what boundary lines are, and what is public and what is private. We know how a woman who has been defiled by a man, no matter WHAT kind of rape it is, needs to heal. We would NEVER demand that they have a child from a rape, I hope.
Then, as if all this above is not damaging enough, you have to go further. You have to start calling rapes "legitimate" rapes, Todd Akin again, or that some girls "rape easy", a comment by Rep. Roger Rivard which means what? You have tried it and some are easier to rape than others? To say that I am sickened, seriously sickened by your lack of compassion, thought for these women, and that you have any rights in the world to determine any of this is beyond belief. I hope that every woman in this country thinks very seriously what you have stuck your whole heads into, and how our rights as women and our privacy would be eliminated by a Romney presidency, and any of these men spoken of above being members of what used to be an honor, that has turned into a circus of embarrassing jerks who have no care for the people that elect them, only that they get another term to get the kickbacks from lobbies and become the millionaires you all so desperately want to be, way more than being our legislators...you only seem to care about us when the election comes around, and between those two times, I have NEVER been contacted by a legislator. I actually believe I have two GREAT Senators that have scruples and would never invade a woman's person like this, Senators Klobacar and Franken.
Next January 22, the anniversary of the signing of Roe vs. Wade, if Obama is not getting inagurated, we need to plan a march on Washington with every single woman we can find in the USA to take our demands to congress, let's shoot for ten million women, and if they don't accommodate our needs, just to be left in peace to make decisions about our own bodies without intervention from the Congress, maybe a sexual boycott for a couple of months would be an interesting plan, aside from voting these idiots out. Let's start now. (if you have a loving partner who is totally on your side and doesn't think rape is a form of conception, they get a pass).
By the way, here is a list of legislators who voted down an amendment proposed by Senator Al Franken (D-MN), who added a rape amendment to the Senate Defense Appropriations Bill: Jeff Sessions (R-AL); Richard Shelby (R-AL); Jon Kyl (R-AZ); John McCain (R-AZ); Saxby Chambliss (R-GA); Johnny Isakson (R-GA); Mike Crapo (R-ID); James Risch (R-ID); Sam Brownback (R-KS)' Pat Roberts (R-KS); Jim Bunning (R-KY); Mitch McConnell (R-KY); David Vitter (R-LA); Thad Cochran (R-MS); Roger Wicker (R-MS); Kit Bond (R-MO); Mike Johanns (R-NE); John Ensign (R-NV); Judd Gregg (R-NH); Richard Burr (R-NC); Tom Coburn (R-OK); Jim Inhofe (R-OK); Jim DeMint (R-SC); Lindsey Graham ); John Thune (R-SD); Lamar Alexander (R-TN); Bob Corker (R-TN); John Cornyn (R-TX); John Barrasso (R-WY); Mike Enzi (R-WY)
