It looks like the election is going to be a sleeper for us in the Golden State. Our fifty-five electoral votes are surely going to Obama. You may think its a wrap -- but no.
Indigo California still has a great Senator to return to office as well as several important ballot issues needing close scrutiny and decision. We alone will send one tenth of the Representatives back to Federal Congress, and we can make a dent in the Republican lead in that body. The local elections always need a clear mandate from the polls to keep the home town boys honest.
Most important, though, is the makeup of our own Senate and Assembly. Right now, the Republicans are so reduced in numbers that they can only manage to obstruct the public will at every turn. They have enough stiffs in Sacramento to block any meaningful attempts at tax reform, but just barely. It's the only card they have, and they play it hard.
In this election we have a chance to reduce Republicans to the status of a debating society, to push them into the cheap seats, perhaps for years. A maximum turnout could make this happen. So. . .

Make the computers counting the votes overheat from so many ballots.
Remember, voting is the only thing you can do to keep the politicians afraid of us.
