Being in an exceptionally lazy loser "meh" (not necessarily in that order) mood tonight, there's not much in the way of introduction for this SNLC, especially given that self had already done the quick fill-in on the history of Halloween in this past SNLC, 3 years ago. (It's amazing what a quick Google search can reveal.) So what's different 3 years hence? Well.....
On my own personal level, regarding the self-deprecatory aspect from 3 years ago:
1. Still not much for costuming up for Halloween socially (much less at work).
2. Same friend's annual Halloween party is on for tonight. Not expecting much in the way of meeting new people, which is still a thought in the back of my head, and which will stay there, unfulfilled. Plus, at this person's parties, all the singletons tend to be of my gender.
In addition, to compound 3CM's loserness, some other changes from 3 years hence:
a. A lot less hair
b. A lot more stress, from:
(1) Job worries (such as wondering if I'll hold on to it, never mind if I'm doing OK at it)
(2) The sheer stupidity of just about 50% of the US electorate and how they'll )(*&% things up on November 6
Of course, this isn't quite on the scale of the Cardinals imploding in the last 3 games of the NLCS, or 'Rmoney' tanking in the 3rd debate on national TV (not that it seems to be helping our side much - one grudging thing you have to say for Republican voters, namely that they're idiots, but united idiots behind their idiot nominee).
But back to the nominal topic, speaking of meeting new people I did see that there's a neighborhood Halloween gathering on the actual evening, before trick-or-treating begins with the families traipsing their kids about. No obligations for me on that, of course. However, for a select few not at that event, Amy Goodman and Denis Moynihan are scheduled to be at the Left Bank Books downtown location on Halloween evening, per this event listing. Choices, choices....
So I have a bit of time pre-evening party to see if anyone observes the usual SNLC protocol, namely your loser stories of the week, before disappearing for the evening......
