The Chattanooga Times Free Press is reporting that a second woman who had an affair with Scott Desjarlais has spoken up.

This woman, like the woman who previously has talked about her affair with Desjarlais, was a patient of Desjarlais. She also said that they smoked marijuana together.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

and the facts are the facts. And it will not stand him in good stead with his constituents so it is a factor in helping us win this seat.

But you can be sure that he does not believe in your right to smoke pot  being the hypocritical ass that he is. So if the fact he smokes pot with a patient who is his mistress in an of itself makes you like him better, so be it.

It is a good narrative for the Left.  The voters of TN aren't likely to like this story much - the guy is a pot smoking, serial adulterer abortionist.  His voters are "family values" conservatives.  Not exactly a match there.

a candidate because the War on Drugs is so incredibly destructive that I don't think that promoting it is ever justified by some election.

Both in his having multiple affairs with patients and in smoking pot when he professes to be against it.

          •  Nobody here has shown the (0+ / 0-)

juxtaposition of his pot smoking with any statements he's made in opposition to marijuana. If he has been a hypocrite, that should be the meme (complete with links to his anti-pot statements). To me, this reads as a criticism of him for smoking the evil weed, and as someone who thinks that the Drug War is one of the worst policies in existence today, my reaction to that is very negative.

            •  It is implied. (0+ / 0-)

              You are intentionally being obtuse.

RW family values voters don't think pot smoking is acceptable.

By calling himself a family values conservative despite the fact that he smokes pot, he's a hypocrite.

              Get over yourself.

              •  The hypocrisy lies in us (0+ / 0-)

pointing fingers at a Republican for smoking pot (twelve years ago), when our own candidates smoked as well. Pretty much everybody has smoked at some point. So it is just a dumb, hypocritical criticism of someone who is running for elective office.

          •  You better hope then that this (0+ / 0-)

"he smoked dope" meme fails, because Barack Obama smoked dope as well. This is not a good issue for us, both because there is nothing wrong with smoking pot, and because all of our candidates have done it as well. Talk about hypocrisy...

about him smoking Pot, which I would never hold against anyone, I do honestly think it is safe to say that the target constituency which must be swayed will incremenate him for his hypocrisy and failing to hold true to their "conservative christian family values" .... in other words, anyone who would hold a positive opinion of him for smoking pot probably wouldn't have voted for him anyway.

I think the pot smoking should be a part of the narrative/ MEME ... even though I like pot ... and I like sleeping with women too.

Instead of discussing the pot usage, I would include the part claiming the croaker gave out prescriptions on a date.

      From the article

But she also said they smoked marijuana during their relationship and remembered DesJarlais prescribing her pain medication on dates at his home.

The woman lives in a 4th District county close to the Chattanooga area. The Times Free Press granted her anonymity but checked her driver's license and verified her identity in DesJarlais' divorce papers -- her name is included in his ex-wife's extensive list of "potential witnesses." Court records and a family friend confirm that the woman and DesJarlais had an affair.
Coming out this late in the campaign, this might make her story sound more credible.
