If anyone in the DC metro area -- DC, Maryland, or Virginia -- has some time to spare on election day, MDteacher is looking for help getting people to the polls.
MDTeacher is a Montgomery County teacher working with the Obama campaign in Virginia to organize an election day effort to get voters from the Virginia Metro Stations to the polls before they close at 7:00 pm. The plan is to have sign-wavers at each metro station all day reminding people to vote and telling them that they will have rides to nearby polling places in the afternoon. In the afternoon/early evening , they'll have vehicles ready to take voters to their polling places.
If this effort is going to be effective, they need many volunteers - both drivers (21 and older) and volunteers to be outside the stations(all ages). The more volunteers, the more stations can be covered. Virginia is going to be very close and this is the kind of effort that can really make a difference.
I hope that you can help. You can sign up at https://docs.google.com/... and they'll be in touch. If you have any questions, please send a kosmail to mdteacher or to me. Please spread this message as widely as you can. The more people we get to volunteer, the better this will be.
