Are we in this together or not?

We live in the United States of America. Our nation's founders realized that people who work together can create something greater than people who stand alone. However, since its inception, the United States has been beset by divisiveness.

We are called once again to choose to end this divisiveness.

For Liberty, For Justice, and For Peace.

Our United States of America remains a bastion of liberty, hope, prosperity and tranquility, even in these difficult times. People around the world rejoiced when our President was elected because it represented hope for ending the needless violence, disease, poverty, and hunger that continues to plague us in many forms.

As we seek to achieve, honor, and reward success, we must hold those who benefit and those who are in control accountable. Sadly, there is a group of people in our country who have decided to abandon unity, and in many ways they manipulate us. That these same individuals would hide themselves and their political machinations is appalling.

Whether it is the defilement of our planet for personal gain, the manipulation of our local and state governments to deny us our rights, or the ludicrous suggestion that by reducing its revenue the government whose very existence they decry can simultaneously reduce its budget deficit and create jobs, nothing they stand for makes sense.

We must confront those people who use separation, hatred, and religious beliefs to manipulate others for whatever ends they opportunistically conceive.

We have reached a point where a near majority is embracing what can only be called denial. They claim there is no global warming. They claim there are several kinds of rape. They claim there is no need to regulate anything. The justification is that impending Armageddon makes any actions we take meaningless. There is no need to be concerned with solving any of the problems we face.

We must reject these claims.

Inaction, ignorance, and disbelief have never solved a problem.

Many of us recognize this practice of denial.  We are rightly frustrated, and our frustration has sometimes caused conflict between us. Yet, we should work together, united, so that we may someday achieve the things our nation's founders strove for:

and the Blessings of Liberty.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
