Justin Wagner is running for NYS State Senate in District 40 -- just endorsed by the NYTimes:
STATE SENATE DISTRICT 40 (parts of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester Counties) Voters in this Hudson Valley district have a real chance to make a difference. They can oust the incumbent, State Senator Greg Ball, a pro-gun, anti-women’s rights Republican who can’t seem to work well with others, even some in his own party. And they can vote in Justin Wagner, a lawyer and Democratic district party leader in Cortlandt. As a volunteer community organizer, he worked in 2009 to help homeowners in Brooklyn fight foreclosure proceedings. In Albany, Mr. Wagner promises to fight for real campaign finance reform, more tax breaks for smaller businesses and a minimum-wage increase. We endorse Justin Wagner.
Now, Greg Ball is an entitled, attention-grabbing jackass. And, possibly because I keep sending him "don't vote like a republican" emails -- and I'm registered with Working Families Party, not as a Democrat (don't worry, they're usually all the same candidates) -- I've actually been getting from-him-in-person voice mails. I'm certain they're from him-in-person, because we get so many from-him-by-voice-mail-blast messages. Good thing I never pick up that phone this time of year -- I'm not quite sure how to say "No way in hell I'm voting for you" and keep getting his attention should he be re-elected.
Anyway. Justin Wagner's campaign has put out some great mailers. Very different from the usual blue-and-white "The other candidate is EEEEEVVVVVIIIIILLLL and/or A LIAR!!!" things the mailbox is full of.
Here they are (pictures link to a bigger version):
And here's
his ActBlue page, if you're so inclined.
