Hi all, ran across these two opportunities to help GOTV.  One is info from the Cincinnati area where they could use help.  The other is a road trip from NY to help VA. Please pass these along in any way you can and feel free to add any others in.  I will be posting the Cinci info on as many Kentucky and Indiana liberal FB pages as I can.  I understand they are already getting volunteers from Northern Kentucky.  So, if you have any contacts in those areas that can get to OH, again, please feel free to pass the word.  Many thanks.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?

(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

  •  In Ohio Wed-Sun (6+ / 0-)

After several weekend trips from Chicago to Iowa this cycle, I will be in Cincinnati from Wed to Sun (a last minute decision) to GOTV.  I don't want to look back in regret that I didn't do everything possible to help re-elect the President.  Too many issues that I care about hang in the balance...

  •  I spent the day canvassing in Cuyahoga (6+ / 0-)

County Ohio yesterday. About 30 of us from the Rochester and Buffalo NY areas bused into Cleveland and knocked on over 1200 doors.

Here's a report I emailed Shoshanna this morning:

Very long day yesterday canvassing for POTUS in Ohio. My day started at 6:00 a.m. and ended at 2:00 a.m. this morning. It was raining and cold, but well worth it.  My partner and I knocked on 71 doors. Only 21 people were home or answered. Most of the 21 were definitely voting for POTUS or had voted already. Few said they weren't gonna early vote (which the campaign is encouraging ppl to do), but were going to wait for November 6.

The responses we got to the "Will you vote for Senator Sherrod Brown" question was a bit troubling. Some didn't know of him (!!!). Some refused vote for him - said they didn't trust him (his opponent's ads might be having an effect). Some who had voted already didn't vote for him - or any down-ballot candidate for that matter (Ugh! Obama is not king! We need a Dem majority in congress!)

It was also depressing to see an entire community (like the one I now live in) decimated by the Great Recession and 30+ years of trickle-down policies. People have little or no hope. The volunteer who drove us to and from our canvassing zone was unemployed and talking about moving out of Cleveland.

Lots of unemployed people. Far too many young people (black and white!) with criminal records, school dropouts, unskilled, uneducated, wandering aimlessly through life.  We need to begin investing in our kids - in our country - again!

Anyway, my group knocked a total of 643 doors. The second group about the same. We did good. Some of us going back next week. I'm going to stay home and canvass for Louise Slaughter. Can't allow Maggie Brooks to take Louise's seat.

Check out my twitter feed for pics.

Thanks for putting up this diary, Shoshanna. We can all do something to help GOTV.

Nothing like being able to tie a visit to family with GOTV in a battleground state! Can't wait....will have angelajean by my side and she is an energizer! You know her writing but in person...wow. She is remarkable. I can't wait!

I do hope the damage will not preclude my getting out there but particularly, I hope the damage will not be so bad that so many people will be miserable. My mother's house had a tree crash though it in the derecho in June and she is STILL waiting for the repairs to be completed....after the initial shock of these things the long term stress of being displaced and getting through all the red tape is terrible.

Good luck to all on the east coast!

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with my AlamObama peeps calling voters in Broward county....mostly democrats and mail-in voters. It felt great to be calling FL helping to ensure the debacle of 2000 is NOT repeated. Very satisfying. I sure hope both VA and FL will be in Obama's win column Nov 6th!

Keep up the great work kossaks everywhere!

to help re-elect our president and assure that he has a congress he can work with.

My phonework for GOTV makes my phone an anti-scare device, because the alternate to winning is very scary indeed.

    GOTV!
