Just a brief diary, to pass on what seems to me some reassuring news. I also want to clarify the import of what might otherwise seem a misleading story, in terms of how it was presented by NPR.
According to a new NPR poll, Obama has a 50-46 lead in the battleground states. The NPR story completely underplays this key fact.
The NPR headline is on the national race, which shows Romney 1 point ahead, R 48 O 47, so they emphasize that the race is "Too Close to Call."
But if you drill down into the data provided in the first link (p. 5) you find that Obama has a 4 point lead in the battleground states, which they see as:
CO, FL, IA, MI, NV, NH, NM, NC, OH, PA, VA, WI.
So this pretty much reinforces the story we've been seeing in other polls. The national popular vote is roughly a tie (maybe even a slight edge to Romney). But in the battleground states where the election will actually be decided, Obama maintains a solid lead.
As has been happening a lot lately, the MSM has been focusing on the deadlocked national polls, while downplaying Obama's obvious edge in the battlegrounds. Hypeing the horse-race seems to be more important that bringing out the real story
