Come down to Long Island's South Shore and help people carry out their flood soaked couches and mattresses to the road.
Then drive your bus all over town and pick up all those discarded pieces of furniture and take them to the dump.
Then drive over to the nearest furniture store and pick up new couches and mattresses and deliver them to the people.
And all the while- smile pretty for the camera.
How about coming down to help cut up all the downed trees that are blocking the roads, leaning dangerously on houses and power lines? Or volunteer at a shelter where scared homeowners are fearful about the state of their homes.
You and your friend Ryan could also help feed the first responders and exhausted firefighters, although from what I gather- you will only be in the way.
You could then swing over to New Jersey and pick up all the debris off the roads. I'm sure your bus could handle that.
I've been watching the press conferences. From the governors, mayors, county executives, town supervisors and village trustees- all these leaders are giving timely information on what to do and what not to do.
At no time have any of them put a call out for canned goods.
No. What we are being told is to stay off the roads. Let the first responders do their jobs. Help neighbors and be patient.
You know- through all this, I haven't heard one word from any republican not directly impacted by Sandy- not one word from those so called Christianists- about how their prayers are with all those affected by the storm.
No empathy.
No caring.
Just- how can I turn this around and make it about me.
Like I said in a comment.
We don't need canned goods.
We need money.
Now there's a photo op. Handing a huge whopping check over to FEMA or the Red Cross.
Smile pretty for the camera.
