This is my open thread to offer thanks for those dedicated EMS, firefighters, police officers, who have given their all to help alleviate those of us on the East Coast from mortal danger.
Thank you for your incredible service. My prayers go out to you; that you'll continue to be safe in your ongoing work to keep us safe and secure.
An additional prayer goes out to those utility workers who will be in danger as they work to restore our lost power.
Thank you to ALL volunteers; who have come forth to assist us on the East Coast.
Thank you! Thank you!
How WE can help.....
We all want to help---in some way; with real effort---not looking for a phony photo-op like the Mitt-man.
The easiest way is for cash donations to national organizations. Here are three that I am highlighting:
The Red Cross
The Salvation Army
AmeriCares
I am sure there are more, and you can offer them in your comments.
And certainly, feel free to offer up any pertinent local food banks, etc that could be of help.
One additional note;
Meanwhile, nearly 100 Red Cross blood drives have already been canceled due to the storm, and there could be more as the week goes on. This means a loss of as many as 3,200 blood and platelet products. If anyone is eligible, especially in places not affected by the storm, they are asked to please schedule a blood donation now.

Please use this as a spot to give a shout-out to our first responders; and offer your thoughts on what else we can do to help our fellow East Coasters
