Yeah, there's just so many more days we can take of this. And no one in their right mind wants it to go on and on. And since I consider myself in my right mind, I too want it to end. And I want it to end with an Obama victory, and I think it will. Let me get a bit more specific about that, I ABSOLUTELY think it will end in an Obama victory.
And yet. And yet. It has been a real joy to see this site come together. It has been glorious to see so many on this site choose their priorities, and join in the battle. It has been so great to see roxers and suxers come together in shared battle.
As it should be, for anyone with a lick of sense. If as Democrats and Progressives, we couldn't have done this, then I'd have to reconsider accepting the label of either. But thankfully, we HAVE.
Follow me below the orange scribble, known by so many names, to discuss what we'll miss when it's all over.
I think we'll miss the community of the heat of battle, although I wouldn't wish it to go on a minute longer. I think we'll miss what we share, rather than what we disagree on. I think we'll miss our united front.
Because sure as shootin' we won't be able to come together in victory, as well as we have in our doubts of victory. Ain't that just the truth?
So, within a couple weeks of our victory, and yes---I'm not afraid to say it will be our victory---we'll be picking at each other again, and doubting again, and arguing again. And so it must and probably should be.
Many of us are holding our breath hoping for our best chance to make things better. And the minute we know we have that chance, we're going to go right to work asking for more. That's not only OK, it's exactly what we should be doing.
So, I'm not about to argue with the obvious, or say it shouldn't be. Wouldn't matter anyway, it WILL BE.
But please, dear God, or any one or thing you might hold on to, don't let us here EVER do what we did to ourselves in 2010. 2014 will be here before we blink. Many will want to puke at my mention of it. But I do so to remind everyone, we can't afford another year like 2010, and in great hopes we can mitigate our anger and disappointments to this truth.
In any case, I just have to stop right here, tonight, and say, I appreciate where we are right now, uncomfortable as it may be. I appreciate Democrats and Progressives here, who for the most part, are able to winnow it all down to what is necessary. For all the nail biting, there is a lovely simplicity to that.
And like everything, this too will pass. And then we will be hurtled into our new real reality. So, for all those hand wringers, worry warts, nail biters---all those just praying this ends well and soon, I remind you, that there is always a lot to be said for the now.
The now here, is that we are effective and united. After we win, we'll see.
