Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die.
Mel Brooks
In a move that is both tragic and comedic at the same time the Romney campaign has sunk to an even lower place than previously thought possible. After a phony storm relief event held in Ohio as of late. The Romney campaign in true Orwellian fashion has attempted to change a so-called “victory” rally into a relief effort just by simply changing the name. This is the literal definition of “News Speak” in its absolute purest form. Changing a rally to relief effort in name only, then filling trucks with canned goods bought by the campaign themselves would pretty much be par for the course for Republican party. But no! They really outdid themselves this time for sure.
First of all the donations of food and clothing are unwanted by relief organizations such as the Red Cross due to logistical constraints. What people effected by Sandy on the east coast need is money. Lots of it. The reason being is that these donations of tangible goods no matter if they are the dog and pony show Mitt Romney variety. Or from actual real people take time and resources to sort and transport. Putting even more logistical strain on an all ready taxed relief effort. Now this giving of cans of corn would be fantastic and heart warming if it came from grade school students. But they are jaw dropping and appalling when it comes from a presidential candidate and his handlers. You would think someone who wants to become President of the United States of America in the next couple of days would have a better plan then this. Maybe even let go of some of that campaign money used for libelous attack ads against the President of the United States of America. But the real punch line of this sad joke is that at the direction of the Romney campaign that this token, political football of a gesture could only go to swing states. And not those affected most by the hurricane.
You live in New York? Romney thinks you should go hungry. If you live in Virginia then you are welcome to some “relief”. Way to keep it classy Mitt. Way to keep it classy. (audible slow clap)
Now I know the Mitt Romney does not have to same resources as the President so what should he have done differently? What would you have done? Comment below.
