The New York Times has an interesting article today on the horrific war crime committed by islamic funamentalist rebels in Syria earlier this week.
From the link above:
In the video, captors force 10 prisoners, some pleading for their lives, to lie next to or atop one another. The antigovernment fighters, whose precise identities or affiliations were not clear, yell “Allah Akhbar!” or “God is great!” A few even parade before the camera as others kick and herd the prisoners into a pile before shooting them from multiple directions.
Amnesty International also condemned the war crime. From the Los Angeles Times link above:
Amnesty International issued a statement saying the "shocking" footage "depicts a potential war crime in progress."
.
The rebels have been primarily supported by Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The recent developments suggest that if groups like that take power in Syria, things will not get any better than what have been under the terrible regime of Assad. In contrast to the republicans and Romney, the Obama administration was right from the beginning, when the true nature of these rebels was not clear, to be careful and refuse to provide them with weapons. These people certainly do not deserve support from the civilized western world.
