I cannot help but wonder whether Tuesday night Mitt Romney will be the first candidate ever to lose and refuse a concession speech. Somehow, I cannot imagine him being able to muster what it take to congratulate the President and graciously accept the will of the voters. This is the most craven man we have seen on the national stage--and I do believe he is more dangerous and duplicitous than Richard Nixon. More below the squiggle.
Tricky Dick was tetched and paranoid, but I believe Mitt Romney is more dangerous. Unlike Nixon, Romney looks like the average white guy and therefore gets less scrutiny than the shifty eyed one. Only by seeing his performances over the primaries and the campaign do his patterns of arrogant, callous behavior become apparent. Time after time we have witnessed his willingness to weave plausible but inconsistent rationales on the spot for an "edge." Combined with the stories of Seamus, the haircutting assault, the "pranks" and the fact that he feeds himself before anyone in the family on holidays--these all point to a very disturbed person.
From my vantage point, it is hard to see how this guy could pull it together to do a concession speech. What is the likelihood he will slink off to one of his mansions and never acknowledge the loss?
