As expected, early voting in Palm Beach Co., FL is a nightmare.
We arrived at 6:40 this morning to find that people had been standing in line since just after 4:00 waiting for the polls to open. This is what we found: 6:40 AM at the West Boca branch of the Palm Beach Library
After daylight, I went back to the end of the line to take this shot from the back of the building where the line formed: Back of the Palm Beach Library in Boca Raton, FL Saturday morning
Once you made it around the building, this mass of humanity awaited coming up the side before you even got close to the door: Side of the Palm Beach Library in Boca Raton
The parking lot was full and I watched several people leave this morning after giving up. I should also point out that it was a bit surreal standing in the dark in a field in front of an elderly woman with a walker.
At about 9:40 this morning, I finally cast my vote. Three hours later.
Who do you thank for this?
Thank the crack Governor Rick Scott for cutting early voting and refusing to extend voting hours despite the lines of people.
