At a recent rally in Virginia, Romney supporters shouted down a protester who had the temerity to bring up climate change in relation to Hurricane Sandy with cries of "USA! USA!" Like a certain Danish monarch in England, they invoked sovereignty to turn back the tide, although in this case much of the Eastern seaboard had already been inundated. Stupid Cnuts.

Below the fold you'll find links to the Romney rally's display of democracy in action, Forecast the Fact's response to Willard's willful obtuseness, and my recommendations for how those who are concerned about climate change can involve those on the Right in this cause.

Here is Mittens smiling smugly (what else would he be doing, you may ask) as the environmental protester is shouted down and escorted away:

And here's Forecast the Fact's apposite response:

And finally, since we clearly have so little time as a planet left, here are my recommendations for getting the Christianist Right to get involved in combatting climate change:

1) Forget science. Tell them that their Deity is very angry with them for their poor stewardship of the Earth-- invoke Revelations 7:3 ("Hurt not the Earth...") if you have to.
2) Try to reforge the link between conservation and conservatism. Pull Teddy Roosevelt and the national parks out of your ass.
3) Don't, whatever you do, bring up international cooperation or any of that hippy-dippy guff. Tell them that America must lead and get tough on China.

Are these ideas watertight? They had better be, because we don't have long before another major city is engulfed...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
