[Hey, I agree with Kos, Mitt Romney was headed for a big loss before the super storm ever arrived. If you look at Nate Silver's charts the big turnaround began (abruptly) with the VP debate. But Republicans are blaming Sandy and the media seems ready to go along. Why fight it?]

Dear Republican friends,

Your man Mitt Romney had all the momentum and looked ready to win the White House. It was practically inevitable. You were right about all those skewed polls. Most of those polling firms lean Democratic because their lead researchers went to college and were indoctrinated there. But your internal numbers were correct, victory was at hand.

And the Obama campaign really was on the ropes and in disarray. Hopping around from state to state with no apparent plan. And the independents were flocking to your side. Republican early voting numbers were miles ahead of 2008 and your efforts to make voting harder appeared to be paying real dividends. And then what happened?

God. God happened.

God saw the President on the verge of defeat and couldn't let that happen. He conjured a giant storm, a super storm if you will, and directed it to a very specific region of the country. A place where two leaders, highly thought of by independents and undecided voters, resided. When the storm crashed upon the shore, God's President took action and won the praise of the two leaders and thus secured his place in history as the first black president to serve two terms (and also one term).

God didn't want Mitt Romney to be president. It's something you're just going to have to get used to. Consider it a test of faith, if that makes you feel better.

Best Wishes.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Encourage them to think of Sandy as a message from God in favor of Obama having a second term.

Some religious righties will take it seriously, get stuck in a quagmire of indecision, and stay home on Tuesday.

Difficult for some of us here to believe, but true.

The main point is for the "God did this" meme to get more traction, and the more it's discussed, even if it's argued, the more traction it will have.

in america, people who exhibit one of the most virulent strains of hatred. Who if unchecked will rewrite the history of man's existance in the universe. They have insidiously and with great sophistry over time, developed an evil ungodlike "story", that the white race, mainly in the southern u.s. contains the true and only leaders of christianity. These "leaders" are the only ones who can "speak" for god, and are the only ones whom god blessed with the "right" to invoke him whenever they so choose, on this planet and anywhere else where life may exist. They are only barely tolerant of jews and catholics. They believe that they are the true "chosen" children of god. The jews are "pretenders" and will be dispensed with on "that" day. These heretics see themselves as stewards of a world with themselves at the top of a pyramid where, below them lay the sub-humans whose sole existance is to be a god-approved existance of subjugation, slavery. They are unblemished, and blameless, and after " accepting jesus as their lord and saviour" any act commited by them, no matter how evil, is good because, "they" are the children of god and there will be no retribution.
The irony here is not only is this a patently false "revelation" but, that they themselves are being subjugated by obscenely wealthy monsters, who use religion as a tool to perpetuate the fallacy, who by continuing to "fund" this insanity, are able to continue to subjugate everyone including these bigots.

..taken it on the chin this election cycle.

The best example is Billy Graham forfeiting the dignity & honor of his 50 year career by suddenly receiving epiphany Mormonism is not a cult.  All in the name of getting a diabolical scumbag into the White House.

    •  J vernon mcgee (0+ / 0-)

i have been disillusioned with the american catholic church for decades, but i did not totally break away untill the aca debate. I used to look forward to j. vernon mcgee, then i noticed after a while, that he could not get through most of his "sermons" without blaming "liberals" for everything wrong with this planet. I never heard him say a thing to chastise any wrong doing by the reichwing. I  quit listening to j vernon mcgee about 15 or so years ago. The way some of these people "interpret" the bible is amazingly destructive to the health of this democracy. I was an alterboy, and even though being human i cannot recall everything from the masses that i attended, I have a pretty good knowledge of the bible, though i am better at paraphrasing the things that i learned so many years ago. I pray everyday, because i do believe, and i really don't need an "interpreter" to speak to my GOD. My belief is everyone is to free to believe or not to believe. We have much more in common than we have differences.

I understand the enthusiasm of everyone here regarding the chances of Obama winning re-election but I find this diary to be in very poor taste.

People died in Sandy! People are still suffering. It is going to take a long time for the Northeast to recover.
Sandy was not an act of God. If anything it was Nature kicking the collective backsides of everyone .... one of many more kicks to come I fear.

Just because conservative Republicans use God to explain away their failures, incompetence and weird ideology does not mean progressive Democrats should.

What Sandy did was bring into clear relief how a well prepared and competent President deals with crisis.
If you want to thank God for something, thank the almighty that the US had a competent president and that the death toll was far lower than Katrina.

You should take this diary down and issue an apology.
