I'm wrote this at work last night after I gave up refreshing all the sites (I work nights). Just had an uplifting thought that I wanted to share. As I stared again and again at "the map" and wondered how anyone can vote GOP, I realised: They really "won" nothing. Who did they really win over?
PEC-prediction
It occurs to me that of all the states that were truly competitive going into this cycle, Romney has actually won nothing. I mean, at the extreme ends of imagination you could say he "won back" NC (maybe not, come on Tarheels!). But really, in all the places that the GOP placed all that lucre, the net result is, what? A win only with luck. No better than McCain.
MA - former Governor - zip. MI- birth state - Nil. NH - homeowner - zilch. And then there's all the states where the awful dog-whistling and baiting played the large part of their "strategy": can't make it happen.
I'm in Los Angeles, but grew up in PA, 15 mi. from Youngstown, OH. I well knew the hill Obama had to climb in 08. I'm taking off work tonight. I plan to use the time lag to make some calls in the AM towards W PA / Eastern OH (where I grew up). Or at least helping out at OFA offices here. I'm looking forward to telling people I am in line to vote in Hollywood (Yucca). Maybe I'll see some of you out there.
Here's hoping we'll be joyous, together in the end.
