This is only the second year we have had early voting in General Elections in the state of Maryland and I was motivated to stand in line and cast my ballot on the very first day which was Saturday, October 27. My reason was two fold. First and foremost, I wanted to stand in solidarity with my bother's and sister's across the country who were having to fight to not only have their early voting days lessened, but in some cases eliminated all together. And those reasons were beyond reprehensible and cannot be allowed to stand.
However, i am by nature a procrastinator and although I still would have chosen one of the other early voting days if I'd not made it on Saturday, Hurricaine Sandy overrode my procrastination in a big way!!!!

I waited in line for about an hour and a half, which I was happy to do, and I expected to find a lot of people were there out of concern for the Frankenstorm coming our way and I was correct in that assesment. Howeve, I was surprised at how many people were there in solidarity for our brother's and sister's too! (Mind you, this is not an area of town where you often see a bunch of white wealthy people seeing beyond there own exclusive gated neighborhoods.) I almost went to the other early voting center in Annapolis (much more diverse neighborhood) but I live pretty much equal distance between them sooooo....But I was glad I went to the other, taught me a bit of a lesson and maybe they learned a little bit of one from me ;)
After I voted, I went back to my car and as I turned the key, my iPod Nano (always set to shuffle mind you) automatcally comes on and the last notes of "Beautiful Day" by U2 were fading out, after a second of silence, the next song cues up:
"Only In America"
I kid you not. The song that played when Senator Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for President. Did I take that as a sign? you bet your ass I did! I do not believe in coincendences.
But, wait for it......the next song in the shuffle:
"We Take Care Of Our Own" by the Boss
Played after President Obama's DNC speech
Now, I have about 300 songs on my iPod and it's always on shuffle and let me tell you, this Nano has some serious mojo. I tend to drive a lot when I have things on my mind and my Nano has an amazing way of shuffling those songs in ways that help me work through a lot of serious and sometimes dark stuff.
So, on Saturday, October 27, the Nano with the mojo spoketh!
