Dear Mitch McConnell:
Everything that you've lived and breathed for over the past four years has now proven to have been a complete waste of your time.
You said, Mr. McConnell, after President Obama was installed as President of the United States in 2009, that your primary objective in life was to ensure that he would be a one-term president.
Well, Mr. McConnell, you failed. You failed miserably. Your strategy did not work. Your tactics did not work. Everything you've done since Jan. 20, 2009 has, essentially, been a complete waste of your time, our time, our nation's time, energy, effort and resources, including a giant waste of our taxpayer dollars on your obstructionist shenanigans.
So, now that you and your entire strategy and bag of tricks has proven to be completely ineffective in achieving your number one objective, Mr. McConnell, what is your plan?
Is your plan to continue down the same failed path that you set out on in January 2009? Or do you now have different plans now that it has been proven beyond any shadow of any doubt that your thinking, your strategy, your tactics and everything you have lived and breathed for over the past four years were...a failure?
Do you like the fact that the Republican Party is now considered detestable on its face by huge swaths of this country's citizenry which you and your party will actually need to actually win elections in the future? Like Hispanic Americans. Like women. Like working class citizens. And even the poor. All of those groups are so completely disgusted with you and your political party that even when given one of the most politically advantageous political and economic climates for you and your party, with all of your resources and all of the shameless demagoguery that you could muster, you and your party failed and failed miserably. And it was not just a “failure to communicate,” it was a failure to connect in any meaningful way with massive numbers of Americans that you and your party will need to support you if you have any interest in winning future elections.
What now, Mr. McConnell? Because, while you and your party chose, with deliberate malice of forethought, to be part of the problem over the past four years, there's a chance for you to now become part of the solution. It's your choice.
The real question is whether you plan to waste this entire country's time, energy, effort and resources over the next four years chasing another ludicrous goal like you did this past four years or if you're ready to join the civilized world once again.
In short, Mr. McConnell, you did more than just fail yourself. You failed your country.
