I know some will say, hey we just won a big one lets take some time to celebrate. We had just reelected a man that many had declared DOA for this election no more than a year ago and he wins with at least 303 electoral votes and a 51% popular vote total. We not only maintained but EXPANDED our Senate total including an epic win in North Dakota that everyone (including Nate Silver) had delcared a lost cause. We have a lot to be thankful for as Democrats so to those of you I have one thing to say to you so follow below the fold...
15 minutes
to be thankful for what we have accomplished
to think about what we have overcome to get here
to realize what we stopped from happening
to be amazed at what people power can do to over come the money power
So lets get down to business. We can't wait until 2014 to dig the grave farther down for the GOP, they aren't going to take this loss lying down and we have the perfect avenue to throw the dirt on them
The 2013 VA Governor's Race which is one year from now. I know that NJ also has a Governor's race right now but if everything goes well with Sandy relief efforts I don't think Chrisitie can be touched. That is my opinion so I think VA is the best place to target for a couple of reasons.
1. It is one of the first major election events after a Presidential Race and the MSM always plays up the results as a response to national events.
2. For a long time the winner of the VA Election has been the party out of the White House going as far back as Reagan so it would be nice to slay that beast.
and this is a big one 3. For all the talk of the Civil War in GOP land that should be coming to a news station near you, the first battle will be in VA with big time Romney supporters Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling who is the hand picked successor to out going Gov. Bob (Transvaginal) McDonnel, who was also a Romney supporter and believed to be on the VP short list, will be up against State Atty, Gen Ken Cuccinelli who is beloved by the far right and was one of the first GOP Atty Gen's to challenge Obamacare.
This battle was looking good for the LT. Gov when it was decided that it was going to be a primary to decide the nominee which favors moderates because you can attract cross over support. But all of a sudden the state GOP was taken over by Ron Paul followers and they changed it to a nominating convention which favors and attracts the die hard supporters and favors Cuccinelli. They will have a chance to nominate the true conservative that they have dreamed for. At that time we can show them that a true Conservative CANNOT WIN in a General Election in a high profile case. That would drive them NUTS.
AND THE LAST POINT:
The Blue Wall held! We win VA by running up big scores in Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties. Although Obama underperformed in raw total in all three from 08 to 12, the percentages held true. If we get them out, we win it is as simple as that. The total vote total in 2012 from all three Counties was Obama +105,000 and the total difference in the over all was Obama +99,000, you do the math. We win in NOVA big, we win statewide, we know the route we just have to go there. So lets get to work in VA for 2013, the National GOP will to show that they are making a comeback, so we should be there waiting for them to shove it right back in there faces.
