National Organization for Marriage suffered a historic and definitive defeat in their effort to stop marriage equality in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington states.
Last night, there was a very long period of radio silence coming from the organization that is largely financing and pulling the strings behind the state level campaigns. Perhaps Maggie Gallagher and Brian Brown were drowning their sorrows in a bucketful of Chick-Fil-A?
They have released a statement: "Disappointed but not Defeated."
But make no mistake: we are disappointed, but we are not defeated! We are fighting for a true and just cause—God's institution of marriage. This is a social compact that is not only ordained by the Almighty, it has served society very well. It's a cause worth fighting and with your support we will continue to do just that.
Gee. Where have we heard that before?
Sorry, National Organization for Marriage. There's no spinning this. History has tossed you into the trash bin with George Wallace.
It's over for your organization.
Done.
Kaput.
Finished.
Your political relevance is done. I wouldn't be surprised if come 2016, not even Republican nominee wannabes want to be associated with you by signing your pointless, bigoted pledges.
