In the aftermath of the Romney/Republican trounciing, there is much right wing hand wringing and soul searching to find the correct answer to this dilemma:

Being an exclusionary, science-denying, bigoted cabal is not working.

Do we become:

A: MORE exclusionary, science-denying, and bigoted and bank on losing all future elections?

 OR

B:  Do we renounce the exclusionary, science-denying, bigoted foundation that essentially defines us, thus removing the need for our very existence?

Bwhahahahahahahaha!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Joe Scarborough is the most hilarious I've ever seen him  this morning as he continually holds himself up as the Republican to be emulated - When HE was in Congress, he was brave, fearless, didn't kowtow to anyone and if the Republican Party could just clone him, they would win every election through time immemorial.

He has no idea what a narcisstic, bombastic clown he looks like.

More than half of their "base" against the realities of the world, the Republican base will never "moderate".

Jeb Bush? Chris Christie? This is now the "Party of Limbaugh", the true leader.

This party will be lost nationally for a generation.

      their base controlling the primaries.

I actually foresee them getting rid of primaries and going back to conventions where the candidates are decided in smokey back rooms.

This will have the advantage of them hiding their candidate's more hidious philosophys from general scrutiny in debates while assuring the base in private that the candidate is actually someone who is just as nutty as they are and who will advance their agenda once elected. I call this The Elephant Man option. Once the sheet comes off for the rest of us, it will be too late.

Or, they could simply tell the base - "pound sand, who else you gonna vote for" and endure a couple of election cycles while the base schisms off and they rebuild the Rockefeller Republican version of the party without them.

Hey, getting rid of the primaries offers an additional feature for the plutocrat party  - it's cheaper.  They don't have to fund those campaign races with all of the events, ads, media, and consultants (other than Frank Luntz of course).  That's a lot cheaper than burning bundles of bills the way they did this election.  Of course, they've got a lot more hidden away from all of those pallets of cash which disappeared in Iraq many moons ago.
