Alma's quilt
Alma's quilt

Michelewin has had a number of hard shocks, one after another, in recent years.  She lost her job, cared for her mother in her last illness, handled her mother's estate, and now has had to bury her brother under the most horrible circumstances.  She's handling his final affairs, too.  She's taken care of everything with no help or acknowledgement.  It's no wonder that michelewin is exhausted in body and mind and hurting in her heart.  She could really use a hug -- and we're going to give her a quilty one!

A community quilt contains loving and supportive messages from you, transcribed by me in archival ink on muslin.  My sister and I sew your loving words into a colorful quilt.  This one is going to be a big support to michelewin.  She'll be able to cuddle into it anytime she needs to.  The love will never wash out.

It takes time and material to make a community quilt -- and it is our small living.  If you would like to donate toward the costs, here is a PayPal link - or message me for an address if you prefer a check.  $10/message is suggested -- but some give more so that those who cannot afford to donate may feel comfortable about leaving messages.  Any help is appreciated!

Need inspiration?  Here are a few of the messages gathered so far:

May the peace of healing be yours.  Ooooh

From horizons bound by sorrow, peace calls you forward.
Follow the call.
From memories grown hollow, love draws you outward.
Let the love lead you.
From rage toward tomorrow, may God speed your steps.  BlackSheep1

Hoping our quilt brings smiles.
May you rest and restore energy
May bad memories be replaced by loving words
May good memories revive.
Best wishes! cfk in the Thumb of Michigan

Our lives are like this quilt,
Bits and pieces of joy and sorrow,
But always stitched with love.
May you find comfort, strength and warmth when enfolded in your quilt.  BeadLady

michelewin: You are amazing and strong... and loved! <3 mommyof3

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
