So there has been a lot of talk that President Obama's numbers in the popular vote have dropped off a lot since 2008. In fact, the conservative election prognosticator at electionsprojections even suggested that it was Republican apathy that lost the election and not the power of the President's coalition! He says this here:
Nonsense about it being Republican apathy and not the awesome rainbow coalition that Obama has created
Please do not swallow this crap. I know that someone in a previous diary mentioned that at this stage in 2008, Obama was at about the same number of votes. The examiner has helpfully projected the TOTAL votes based on how many more states are left to report numbers, including provisionals:
Facts based on crazy things like arithmetic, which Republicans hate
Let's wait for the vote to be counted. And let's concede that Romney did a better job of turning folks out than in 2008, but Obama did an AWESOME job of turning out a coalition of all colours, creeds, and sexualities that was almost as strong as 2008. All the more impressive considering what a difficult economy he had to deal with.
Congratulations again President Obama - we are all so proud of you. And relieved that your brilliant campaign spared us from the alternative.
