A diary related to a decision made by the CEO of Papa Johns pizza to reduce employee hours as a result of the ACA has resulted in a brilliant comment by the diarist.
As I'm certain you remember, the CEO stated pre election that he would have to raise the price of his pizza by fifteen to twenty cents if the president was reelected. He figured that would be the cost to his company for implementation of the mandates under Obamacare.
The comment made by the diarist (Cruzankenny) is this:
If he came out and said,"My Pizza cost's more because I give my employees Health Care and other benefits that make a person's life have more quality", I bet he would get more customers.
EXACTLY!!! I would buy nothing BUT Papa Johns if they did something like this (Yes, I would make that sacrifice ... have you HAD their pizza?), and it would force every other pizza chain to do the same.
It would be truly important for these claims of cost to be provable and honest, but I would LOVE to pay a built in "health care for my employees cost" to any company who adds it to their bottom line.
If we believe this CEO ... it's .15 extra.
Let's say they charge 7 bucks for a pizza. That is slightly more than a 2% hike in cost.
So that every single employee of a large chain of pizza stores can have health care.
This idea needs to be taken further. An email to Papa Johns stating that you will be a loyal lifetime customer if he would take the step of honestly factoring in the cost and giving his employees health insurance under the ACA.
I truly believe this simple throw away comment in a Kos diary could change everything.
Here is the customer feedback link for Papa Johns.
Papa Johns
Your CEO has made some rather remarkable statements over the last few weeks. He has said he would raise the price of pizza by 15 to 20 cents to pay the added cost of the ACA (Obamacare) if the president was reelected, and then, since the election, has stated he will cut back on employee hours to make them ineleigble for health care benefits. (He has NOT actually stated it was to make them ineligible, but that's certainly the reasoning)
If he follows through with that plan, I will certainly never again visit one of your stores, but I implore you to consider an alternative.
A marketing campaign that states you will be adding twenty cents to the cost of every pizza so that your employees will all be covered under a company health plan (You don't even need to mention Obamacare) will, in my opinion, result in the greatest uptick in business you have ever experienced, and will likely make your company the number one pizza chain ... hands down.
This is a wonderful opportunity for you. Please consider it.
Thanks
