Wednesday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
More meetings today, and the news reports a gazillion accidents on the streets. It always amazes me when there are a lot of accidents on days when the weather is decent (cold, but decent), and visibility is normal. Most of these accidents are caused by either carelessness or selfishness.
I know every accident I've been involved in happened on days when the weather was really nice and the other driver was being selfish. Two of the drivers ran red traffic lights to hit my car, and one felt I didn't turn fast enough and rammed me from behind. She was so shocked when I refused to move and called the police. How dared I prevent her from getting into WalMart to buy paper plates right that second. The paper plates were for her son's birthday party that was currently (at the time of the accident) in progress and I was ruining his party.
There are at least 30 accidents being worked right now and I'm betting most of them were caused by either careless people, or selfish people.
