The collective freak-out over the re-election of President Obama continues unabated on the Right, with yet another business owner taking out his anger on his customers.
This time it's the owner of an Arizona gun store who's having the hissy-fit. The Southwest Shooting Authority in Pinetop, Ariz. took out an ad last week to inform its potential customers of its new policy. The ad said this:
If you voted for Barack Obama, your business is NOT WELCOME at Southwest Shooting Authority. You have proven that you are not responsible enough to own a firearm. The owner, Cope Reynolds, later posted a letter on the website AmmoLand (yes, there really is such a place) to further expound on his reasons for taking such a seemingly irrational and self-defeating stance:
To Whom it May Concern:And here I always thought it was an ironclad belief among conservative business owners that nothing ever trumps the all-mighty profit. Isn't that what they always tell us when they're laying people off or cutting their pay or denying health care coverage to their workers?
I thought you all might be interested in this.
We will try to demonstrate once again that the bottom line for our business is principle, not money.
Yes, it has been damaging at times but our values are intact.
Effective immediately, if you voted for Obama, your money is no good here. You have proven beyond a doubt that you are not responsible enough to own a firearm. We have just put a sign up on the front door to save you the trouble of walking all the way in here...
I took this ad out in our local paper. It will come out in the White Mountain Independent tomorrow, 9 November
Seems even guys like Reynolds are willing to turn away customers if it fulfills their delusional fever dream of getting back at a man who has done literally nothing to restrict gun ownership during his tenure as President.
