This is now the top thread at Fox Nation:

War on Christmas Erupts in Illinois

To avoid what could be a costly lawsuit, the village of Alsip will break with tradition and not erect a cross on its water tower near the Tri-State Tollway this holiday season.

The cross had been a fixture since the 1970s, Mayor Patrick Kitching said Monday. But after the Freedom from Religion Foundation, based in Madison, Wis., advised Kitching it would file a lawsuit demanding removal of the cross, citing separation of church and state, Kitching decided to not wage a losing and likely costly legal battle.

For the flavor of the response here are a couple of recent comments:

I feel like I'm hollerin' up a hole.  This nation that was built upon the Judea-Christian values is descending into an aethist pit.  And for what?  Out morals have sustained us for all these years and is now being chucked away to apease a Godless liberal upheaval.  Let's all just play by the rules.  Want to change a law?  Do it constituionally.  Until then let's follow the rule book that made this country great, The Constitution.

OXY_MORON FOR YOU: You can't show any signs of your Christian religion and beliefs because they offend me because I do not believe as you do. I am and atheist(they say) I don't believe in God, he does not exist (they say). So if HE does not exist HOW can HE offend? You are offended by imaginary beings? Are you a 2year old seeing monsters under your bed?  GROW UP

War on Christmas Erupts in Illinois.. what the crazy corrupt un-American land... that gave U.S. our first foreign born and raised misleader..our first true American failure, Obama... liberally and surely unionized by the democrats and Obamanites for sure!  Hey enjoy Obama Claus he has many many more freebies to hand out than Santa Claus... a from funding from liberally who?     O Yeah the American taxpayer or at least the 47% still working hard paying for it!  Happy Obama Holidays!

PS Obama needs no raindeers he has donkeys.. with brown noses and fairy dust and dollars!!!

The village needs to just have some "taggers" paint a very nice replica of a wooden cross on that water tower.  Then write a report up as vandalism.  And then elect not to do anything about it at the council meeting because of a lack of funds in the budget...  Let Santy Obama and his ilk in the federal government pay for the repaint job...

After dropping Benghazi from the top billing at Fox Nation where it had been a fixture for many weeks, now this is what they're pushing.

                                                 The War on Christmas.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
