In general I think Obama is quite excellent President.
I sent him a lot of money so he would win!
He has done many good things, but also over the past years he has disappointed us with several wimpy compromises.

So about the Bush tax cuts. We need Obama to stand tough. If the rates are raised on everyone, so be it. The rates can always be lowered on the middle class.

But if Obama agrees to some bs compromise, that is no good. Don't compromise on a future framework or some deductions. That just won't cut it.

Obama ran on a platform that he would let the rates on the wealthy go up when the Bush tax cuts expire. He won convincingly. The Democrats are in the drivers seat. The Republicans are in disarray. We don't have control of the House, but pretty close, so only a few Republican defectors could swing the vote our way.

So he should hold to his platform. And we need to let him know- we sent him money and we worked overtime, and now he should stand up for what he said he would do.

Come on, Barack!

Will Obama stand firm and demand that the rates go up on the wealthy?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

until they see things his way. His election was a mandate, but the thing is that mandate is represented by each of us doing our part to have his back.

It's clear that the Bush tax cuts on the rich are expiring.

The main concern among progressives is whether we can keep Medicare and Social Security off the table, as Obama has been rather vague about "entitlement reform". Personally, I think we should wait until proposals are out before we start claiming Obama will "force grandma to eat catfood" (really people, aren't we supposed to be better than the teabaggers?).

Republicans are far more socialist than Democrats. Just because they want to redistribute the wealth upwards does not make it any better.
