This diary is mainly to ask the question 'why?' Why did Sen Ayotte decide to join and lend her face to the Hack Squad. This now group of three Sen McCain, Graham and Ayotte has taken this whole Benghazi thing to another level.
Everyone knows, atleast everyone here see the baseless, partisan, maybe racist subliminal message that is been sent by this group of three as to why they continue to attack Amb. Rice. After all if they really wanted to find out what happened they would be going after the people in charge like President Obama, Secretary Clinton and/or the CIA/Petraeus for these would be the sources of pertinent information.
So why aren't they attacking Pres. Obama, after all he extended an open invitation for them to do so. So why so after them messenger? Don't they think it's obvious, their lack of forthrightness?
Now back to Sen. Ayotte. After Nov 6 Sen Ayotte has a press conference with the Hack Squad, I found this to be curious. because you never really would see Ayotte caught up in this type of Repub craziness. This was only one new conference and for the following weeks it was mainly McCain and Graham towing the 'hackery' line. It appears she was testing the waters, because today after all three met with Amb Rice, Sen Ayotte was back in the lime light.
Sen Ayotte is from the state of NH, not known for it crazies, and yes she has 4 more years before election time, enough time for people to forget or not forget. She has a safe seat, so why get involved in crazy talk, where on the surface with time it becomes more and more obvious your barking up the wrong tree and start to look like your being petty and non productive.
It would be interesting to see how Sen. Ayotte proceeds from here. She can continue to tow the crazy Benghazi talk or move on to things that matter. Now don't get me wrong Benghazi does matter, but she needs to go after Pres Obama, Secretary Clinton and the CIA/Petraeus.
It would be interesting to see how this plays back in NH. As a first term Senator it's not necessarily a good idea to garner national press of the crazy Repub type.
McCain and Graham can afford to behave in this way (it may even be beneficial electorally) because they are from very red states. NH has a very pliable electorate, it's hard to predict how this type of craziness would play there. It also depends on how the media portrays the discourse. If Sen Ayotte stays on this crazy/partisan approach to governing for the rest of her tenure and 2016 even just slightly leans as another anti Repub year, the Hack Squad may be in search of another member.
