He needs to be MADE to get to work. Put matches in his butt.
John Perez said recently in an article that his caucus will "do nothing" with his caucus's new powers. John Perez is gay, a union leader/organizer, and Hispanic. A couple weeks ago he said this:
Perez said in a statement that he planned to move fast with his party’s new powers. “In the new legislative session we will have 54 Democrats hitting the ground running, eager to work for jobs, recovery and economic growth for California," Perez said, adding that he was "honored and humbled to receive the unanimous support of my colleagues to continue leading that effort."

However, here is what Perez said in this LA times article or has been believed to have said:

When Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) was asked what he intended to do with his caucus' new power, he responded with one word: Nothing.
How can he say such a thing suddenly? I thought he understood struggles and would want to help people.
Thankfully, the senate leader counterpart is pushing hard (his agenda echoed by Jerry Brown). Here is what the senate leader said in the same article. Thank god.
Steinberg, his Senate counterpart, has been more forthcoming, suggesting lawmakers pursue changes to the state's tax structure and restore money to social services. He said he also wanted to tweak the initiative process by setting expiration dates for ballot measures and requiring proponents to negotiate with the Legislature to refine their proposals.
"We have a responsibility to move the state forward," Steinberg said. "I promise that we will exercise this new power with strength but also with humility and with reason."
Liberals and California people, you need to be organizing and starting the pressure right now. This your moment and time. National progressives and people are organizing and pressuring the DC Democrats and Obama. They are pushing the leaders in the right direction.
John Perez needs a piece of your mind and also you need to really push the supermajority well. I am confident California will become the epitome of Progressive America finally. However, the left needs to be playing the long game of organizing and pressuring RIGHT NOW.
