Not the customers, patients, who use Health Management Associates services and pay the bills but apparently seeking to soften the blow of the worshiped bottom line that might hit on Monday morning on Wall Street after the report.

I checked the CBS 60min. site and the segment isn't listed to be shown Sunday, yet, but they say they were notified it would be and it's got them worried.

This is the press release they've sent out:

Health Management to Conduct Conference Call and Webcast to Discuss Impending “60 Minutes” Segment

It leads off with this:

Management first notified investors of potential segment in July

An executive editor from 60 Minutes has confirmed that it intends to air the segment on Sunday, December 2, 2012.

If anyone's interested you might try getting in on the conference call or online simulcast.

It's peaked my interest to catch the 60min segment, if it does air, this coming Sunday.

Wonder what's got HMA so up as to head off the negative only a few days before?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Speaks volumes about the company, might add most in today's corporate world especially here in the States. They're actually saying management knows the totally negative businesses practices they're doing but as long as nobody else knows they're 'very positive' for the investors, bring em out of the dark and into the light of day and they need the damage control started ahead of time, wonder if the FOX financial reports is already on this with the think tank talking points!

As a 20+ year employee of a Catholic hospital takeover by HMA I eagerly say go get-em. I was downsized quickly and told I didn't fit in after I had been promoted to the administrative offices. Needless to say I witnessed things that didn't smell right.

News is that there seems to be a movement to acquire hospitals. I wonder what the underlying investigation will fully reveal.
