Jumping off the fiscal cliff
Will cause a panic only if
 Financial markets big and small
React as if they hit a wall

Otherwise I think it prudent
For anyone who is a student
Of politics the way it works
To just relax and let the jerks

Protect those tax cuts for the rich
Supported by their good friend Mitch
 McConnell and his fellow reeps
Prepare to take their final leaps

Weighted down by feet of clay
 Slipping deeper every day
Until at last we look and see
They’ve dug a hole and just may be

Getting what they now deserve
For all their guile and all their nerve
 Their gutless and disgraceful acts
 Ignoring inconvenient facts

With Obama now in full command
Let the bastards just be damned
After what they stole and took
He shouldn’t let them off the hook

I’ll just say this to all my friends
 Our president will make amends
And give us what we all need most
 Republicans all turned to toast.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Just what will Obama do? (0+ / 0-)

Why not just let all the tax cuts expire?

Many have written articles on this. I agree.

By going into negotiations he makes the tax debate legitimate.

    Let the repubs hang themselves

  •  Jiggling the tax rates just makes more (0+ / 0-)

work for tax accountants. People hoarding dollars in hopes they'll be worth more later don't care what the rates are because they're not moving the money around.

Let Congress pay for welfare just as it pays for warfare -- by writing appropriations bills and authorizing the Treasury's disbursement of dollars.

Why does the Treasury disburse dollars, via the Federal Reserve, to banks and then borrow those dollars back and pay interest for the privilege?

We organize governments to provide benefits and prevent abuse.
