We the People DEMAND an Increase in the MINIMUM WAGE/PROFIT and please my Petition on the White House Petition web site:

Here’s the LINK to the History, we all know and it’s past time, for this on the 2014

Drafting among the people today is a growing Demand and the interest is there and this is a good and positive and uplifting, not only for the Nation, but the Economy and the Majority of the people.  Our RECOVERY needs the people to increase their wages/profits.

Watching the Media itself, ignore this growing injustice and the Media’s history of coming late to the fervor, growing in the Nation is not new.

I say that because the Media, the “Networks, are ALL Corporations” and don’t want, the “cost of Labor” to ever go up, ever, so in every Production meeting across the Networks “landscape”, it’s quiet desperation and pins and needles subject, but the people are clamoring, believe, so we’re kicking it off, with a petition (s).

Next are the Polls and on the street segments, this is a Job for Media, Networks and the Press.

Do you believe the Minimum Wages should be increased

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Good luck to you. (0+ / 0-)

I had a minimum wage petition that I pushed on this site.  Didn't get anywhere.

  •  The minimum wage is a big problem for me. (1+ / 0-)

I'm a landlord and real estate investor.

I often need to hire unskilled labor to help me renovate foreclosed buildings. I hire people from the neighborhood who are young, without HS diplomas, and who sometimes have criminal records.

Nobody will take a chance on these guys but me. These are the guys who get fired from Wal-Mart and McDonald's.

Sadly, they do not do good work enough to justify paying minimum wage. By "justify", I mean that if I paid them minimum wage, I would make zero profit on the eventual rental/sale of the building.

So, I don't hire them for many jobs. This means that there are foreclosures that remain empty and broken-down and tenants who remain homeless because the minimum wage stops me from fixing up houses in bad neighborhoods.

I realize that one can't support a family on minimum wage. But the solution is not to raise the wage -- that will just reduce the number of jobs. The solution is to provide EITC and other benefits to low-wage workers to supplement their earnings.

The Government should provide these benefits, not the employers. If this means higher taxes, fine.

I would rather pay taxes for rent that I am getting on a fixed-up house than be unable to fix up the house at all. And currently, the minimum wage stops me from fixing certain types of buildings in certain low-profit neighborhoods.

    •  You're right, those guys aren't worth minimum (0+ / 0-)

      They're worth double that.

If people were paid more they might rent out those sucky slums you rent.

You're wrong about why slum lords don't fix up sucky apartments in nasty neighborhoods though, they do that cause they are blood sucking scum bags sucking the lifesblood out of people who maybe don't want to work at some suck ass McDonalds or Walmart and maybe did some time cause it was better than minimum wage.

      Just sayin.

How big is your personal carbon footprint?

      •  You don't understand. (0+ / 0-)

I am talking about vacant houses. These houses will remain vacant until either:

        1) The cost of fixing them up goes down or,
        2) The rent for them goes up.

If you raise minimum wages, I might be able to raise rents...but it will also raise my costs.

Worse, minimum wage hikes can hurt the unskilled. I can hire skilled union painters to paint the interior of a three-bedroom house. Or I can get it done using unskilled labor.

The union guys do a better job and take less time. They cost three times as much.

If you increase the minimum wage, I'll just hire the skilled workers. Congratulations! You have successfully transferred wealth from the poor to the middle class!

(I bet you never thought about that, did you?)

The solution is to transfer wealth to the poor. The most successful program so far is the Housing Assistance Program, aka "Section 8". But funding for this program is limited and the bureaucracy is slow.

Lastly, your personal insults really don't help solve any problems. My tenants have jobs and they work every day. Why would you call their neighborhood a "slum"?

        People need housing.

        Not insults.

        •  Hiring Skilled worker , works for me (0+ / 0-)

And no matter what we do, we need to raise the Minimum Wage.  There will always be people, who need this kind of work/job, that you offer, just as "the poor, you have with you always", I don't see a problem,  please sign the Petition.  Another point of the Minimum Wages measure is, during Federal Election, they raise the turn out of the ELECTORATE and were not talking about a huge raise, but $10.00 an hour would be a fine starting point, this is America, we deserve better wages and not because we have people, who can't hold a job, we have people like that all over the world. Know this the 2014 MID-TERMS, the RECKONING ENDS and the "curb kicking will plentyful", let s amke this a well deserved blow out, please sign the Petition and Thank you.

        •  you are demanding that all the wealth be (0+ / 0-)

          transferred to you.

At the link you can find actual studies that show what you are arguing doesn't fit the real life history of areas that raise the minimum wage.

          •  Demanding YES I AM (0+ / 0-)

To me no thank you, let's not get personal, because you have a weak arguement, but using some studies, that I can twist either way.

Now an originak thought please, not based on a minority Parties, xmas list.

    •  It is great that (0+ / 0-)

you are not prejudiced against those with criminal histories but those people still need to make a fair wage for their labor.
