The jazz pianist, Dave Brubeck, died this morning of heart failure at his home in Connecticut. He was 91 years of age. Brubeck was one of the quintessential jazz musicians of the 1950s and 1960s, most famous for Take Five and Blue Rondo ala Turk, pieces written by his fellow quartet member, Paul Desmond. Up until his death, he was actively performing and had a number of events scheduled for next year.
A jazz hero of mine, he will be sorely missed.
