Or, to give it away, the other half:
Quick, who is Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC/Teabagger) replacing as head of the Heritage Foundation?
I'm probably as stunned as many of you that Jim DeMint, patron of the Teabaggers, would abandon his rather powerful - or at least high-profile and influential - position for a job held by somebody most people had never heard of until today.
I guess I don't understand how this is a step up for DeMint.... but maybe I just don't think much of the Heritage Foundation - yes, it's influential in conservative circles, but when every mention of it starts with 'the conservative Heritage Foundation', its ability to shape public opinion is somewhat limited.
And, let's note that DeMint isn't going there to help shape conservative thought or policy for the coming generations. From his statement:
"This is an urgent time," the senator said, "because we saw in the last election we were not able to communicate conservative ideas that win elections."
Nope, like so many other conservatives, poor ol' Jimmy thinks that Republicans/conservatives lost because they just didn't
communicate their wonderful ideas well enough!
So he's going to start a public speaking class for Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan and the rest of the prospective '16 class of clowns (dare we hope da Herminator does a reprise?).
Yeah, that'll win a lot of elections for you, Jimmy.
Cheers.
PS: Now we get to watch the feeding frenzy surrounding Nikki Haley as she picks an interim Senator to serve out DeMint's term.
