In our commitment to reduce the obscene, ugly, and dangerous inequality in our society, we have to look at tax policy - who pays what and who is able to hide their money and unpatriotically avoid paying their fair share.
Current tax policy serves to widen our awful inequality. As billionaire Warren Buffett said, his secretary pays a higher percentage of her income in taxes than he does.
We can reduce our awful inequality, strengthen our country, our economy and our families with sane, reasonable, fair tax policy.
Senator Bernie Sanders has laid out such a comprehensive, fair, sane, and patriotic tax plan (which you can read BY CLICKING HERE). I urge you to read it as soon as you can. Nothing in his plan would raise taxes on the middle class and/or working folks.
One of his most important proposals is to eliminate tax breaks for shipping jobs overseas. One way companies are incentivized to offshore our jobs is that companies take advantage of a loophole called foreign source that allows them to avoid paying taxes on goods produced overseas. That loophole MUST be closed.
In the last decade, we have lost 30% of our manufacturing jobs and over 50,000 jobs. Absolutely inexcusable!
As Warren Buffet was alluding to, the income of the rich received from the sale of stocks, bonds, and dividends are taxed at only 13% while our working income is taxed at 20-30% depending on the numbers of dependents and deductions we have.
Please stop reading right and call both your Senators and Representative and tell them to stop any cuts from Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid at 888-659-9401 or 202-224-3121. Tell them to tax the rich!
