Tension.  Entire cities in turmoil with bands of armed right wing fanatics intimidating people, and in many cases committing violent acts against those whom they perceive to be dangerous elements in society (i.e., liberals, union leaders).  Fear starting to spread to cities and states that at one point have been considered bastions of liberalism.

All financed by billionaires through a myriad of right wing organizations, media outlets, and corporatist lobbyists who have taken control over several state governments around the country.

Most readers of the previous two paragraphs would be incredulous; I understand it.  But this scenario could happen at any time.  A lot of the conditions for it to become reality are either in place, or are being put in place as you read this.

Those are their intentions; that of these odious and treasonous oligarchical and tyrannical crop of corporatist billionaires who are taking the final steps to destabilize our system of government in order to take over.

Many ask, "why are states are furiously passing ALEC-written, cookie-cutter legislation to allow people to carry conceal weapons everywhere, including churches, shopping malls and daycare centers?  What's the reason for similarly-generated laws that curtail collective bargaining, undermine public education in favor of for-profit charter schools?  What is the obsession with weakening the social safety net, including medicare and social security?"

The Republican party today represents a clear and present danger to the nation.  They are hell-bent on destabilizing the country's institutions, on creating havoc, and brinkmanship, all at the behest of their corporatist owners.

They will stop at nothing to accomplish their goal of apocalyptic chaos; they will again use the so-called debt-ceiling to threaten the financial stability of the country.

The fanatic right wing wingnuts are being whipped into a frenzy with carefully-tailored messaging hammering into their pea-brains an irrational fear against "socialism" and "perversion" and "illegals" depleting the country's coffers.

These fanatical goose-stepping "soldiers of God" are at the ready, just looking for an excuse to "step up" and "make things right."  The billionaire-funded think tanks and mass media organizations like FoxNews and others are doing everything they can to put together a narrative that would justify violence or intimidation.

Those are their intentions, and they are working towards making them a reality.  Will they succeed?  I don't know.  But if these things happen I will not be surprised in the least.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

pretty quickly.     It's hard to envision a scenario where it doesn't happen.   It's rather inevitable at this point given the pressures of population and environment.

...the same in the large -- and it is only the veil that is being lifted. (And then, only to the eyes of a few.) The US constitution is structured in a way that makes asset-stripping and lack of a commonwealth possible. It is an artifact of a feudal era.

People will go about their business and shoulder their 18th century burdens of the familiy working for long souless hours, neglect of their bodies, anxiety due to lack of security, poor education, increasing incarceration. They will make the best of it.

I think this is symptomatic of a desperate empire in decline -- and has much less to do with politics than we think.

but the thing about fantasies is that the story ends - reality doesn't.  Even Dick Cheney knew better than to make it personal with other Americans, and even then we really have no idea what kind of furtive existence he and his crew have to live because of what they did.  We hear them occasionally quoted in the media, but we don't know what kind of security measures those people will have to live under for the rest of their lives for having done this kind of thing to the people of another country.

So I don't think right-wingers of any stature really want this scenario to unfold, because even if they could wait out the initial fighting in some other country, sooner or later they'd be gotten to or arrested by someone, somewhere.  Real civil wars are chaotic, and a second American civil war would be global in nature and probably spark WW3 due to all the international business and political interests involved.

The facade has been off since Dubya took it to the hilt and advised anyone of differing opinion they were with the terrorists.
The beauty of now is their game has run its course; attrition and antiquated ideas have combined to decrease their numbers and their impact.
They spent shit-tons, used all the religious fervor of every flavor they could muster and they lost socially, morally and politically.
They don't want to believe they lost and the Media is trying to placate and mollify; take away the sting.
The McCains of the world are thrashing in their La Brea
death throes. But they are done; the confines of the human life span will end the false morality that is their mantra.

As long as our side doesn't get confused about "bi-partisan" solutions and start giving up Medicare, forget to head toward single payer (Medicare for everyone), create real infrastructure, jobs, all Veteran's needs taken care of; put the country to work rebuilding the country and ignore the whining minions of the Rich- The Republicans.
    Their collective heads will explode.

    Barter from there.

A couple of months ago a fellow I sit next to at work (who has spent at least $100,000 on guns and ammo in the last couple years) was gleefully talking about this short story posted at some right-wing blog in which  EBT cards stop working in big cities and suddenly all the brown people start raping and pillaging.   In response, the heroic gun owners such as himself go about killing as many of these - I won't use the words the story used - people as they could and save Western Civilization in the process.

A Paulite friend of mine read it and started exclaiming, "This could really happen, this is how it will happen!"  Without hearing more than a couple sentences of description I told him, "This is Turner Diary fan fiction race war porn and nothing more."  He nodded and didn't say another word after I pointed that out.

The guy I mentioned at the beginning of this post is constantly posting about EBT and food stamps on Facebook as if people getting a little help buying food (and increasing overall demand in the economy, thus keeping people in food production and retail employed) is the absolute worst thing happening in the world.   He doesn't worry me at all but the shit he fills his head with is coming from some really wacked out places.

So I guess I'll have to put it to use now, so I can counter the nefarious carriers of which you speak. I hadn't felt it necessary to carry a weapon up to now.

Since I live in Utah, it's likely to be a target-rich environment. Luckily we have open carry here and I have an AK-47-alike and a 75 round drum.

No, actually I think about all the right-wing hysteria machine is stirring up is you, diarist. That's based on a recent poll showing a significant defection of Republicans from the intransigence of their party.

      •  It varies. (0+ / 0-)

Paragraphs 1 and 2, not so much. Although I do have the weapons, I only reveal them at a gun range suitable for the purpose. And I never actually use the drum, it's too dang heavy.

        Paragraph 3, yes, that's a serious "lol".

Paragraph 4, all serious. Especially the linked poll.

        I hope that helps.

I often try to defuse hysterical diaries with humor when I have time, or ignore them when I don't.

of mass violence in America's cities? You've been doing this for years now.  It's always "it's coming, the violence is coming, you'll see", with different reasons du jour for what will set it off (today it is ALEC-fueled righties). Dude, you need to recognize that when you are always thinking about the inevitability of civil insurrection and mass violence, that you may have a problem. There's a fine line between fearing violence and rooting for it, and you seem to have crossed that line long ago. In any event, you continue to be wrong, and I'm fairly sure your fantasies will remain just that.

We all are upset about some aspects of America today, we are very upset; but you should really try to get to the bottom of why for you it always comes down to the belief (hope?) that society is about to unravel into violent chaos.

streets.  We have one of the most (if not the most) violent societies in the world when it comes to gun violence and gun deaths.

The danger I'm pointing out is that there are certain elements that are trying to create an environment where there is organized right wing violence.

Because of the strength of our institutions those elements may not be able to accomplish their goals, but my point is that they are trying nevertheless, and if at some point this (unlikely) scenario comes to pass, I will not be surprised.
