Outgoing Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), a right-wing loudmouth who got his rear end handed to him in the 2012 IL-8 congressional race by Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth, is seriously considering a 2014 run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Democrat, and Senate Majority Whip, Dick Durbin.

Joe Walsh has absolutely no business running in a statewide race in Illinois.

Walsh first ran for Congress in 1996, running arguably the single most ageist campaign for public office in this country's history against then-Democratic incumbent Sidney Yates in IL-9. Walsh threw a birthday party on Yates's 87th birthday that included a birthday cake, complete with 87 candles. Yates easily defeated Walsh.

Walsh got elected to Congress in the 2010 Republican wave by winning a six-way Republican primary in IL-8, then narrowly defeating Democratic incumbent Melissa Bean.

Walsh's two years on Capitol Hill has been an absolute embarrassment, to put it mildly.

Walsh was sued for $117,437 in back child support by his ex-wife, Laura Walsh. The case was ultimately settled out of court.

Walsh has been videotaped berating his own constituents, claiming that Democrats want to make African-Americans and Hispanics dependent on the government, and claiming that Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War veteran who lost both of her legs after a Black Hawk helicopter she was co-piloting was shot down, was "not a true hero".

Walsh has even gone as far to claim that the only reason Barack Obama got elected President in the first place is "because he pushed that magical button...a black man who was articulate, liberal, the whole white guilt, all of that."

Walsh even swiped a legislative proposal from Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop of New York and tried to pass it off as his own!

Joe Walsh, you are a disgusting human being that has been an absolute embarrassment to the people of the 8th Congressional District of Illinois. We will do everything in our power to ensure that you never hold elected office again!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
