The GOPbagger junta ruling the state continues to run down the ALEC checklist, as dictated to them by their big-buck buddies:

-- Approving a $600 million tax money giveaway for a new arena to billionaire sports franchise owner? CHECK

-- Union-busting RTW laws? CHECK

-- Emergency Manager laws to take away local government from those stupid lazy coloreds?  (Despite a decisive election result one month ago repealing a nearly identical law) CHECK *

-- More charter-school horseshit to take away money from public education and give it to the Billy Bob Bible Beating Charter Schools? CHECK *

-- Abortion laws!! Gotta stick our GOPbagger speculums up the hoo-has of those uppity Vagina-Americans. CHECK

-- GUN NUTS!! YES you can carry your iron in your local Day Care!! CHECK

And of course Governor Dipstick, the Smiling Nerd, will sign them all.

He's a good little puppy dog. He's done his master's bidding. He expects a nice juicy meaty treat for Christmas.

* Also of course to allow the fire-sale selloff of public properties (especially public school properties) to their strip-and-loot henchmen.

The beat goes on

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

shows you can never trust republicans, imagine if Dems pulled crap like this,it would be national news and Reps. would be crying more than they normally do. we need to vote every single one out and form a new party, one who is for America. and not one out to destroy it.

      Definition of FASCISM
often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

Seriously, no matter what is done the Republicans just continue to destroy stuff. We can't seem to stop them.

to be civilized, good hearted, and go quietly into the hired help quarters where they think we belong.  And if we keep that mindset, that's where we'll all end up.  Hardball, bare knuckles and chin got us what we've accomplished in the last century.  The union has it right.  Give those MI rethug legislators a reason to be worried/scared enough to carry the handguns some of them carried into the capital and displayed to the media on Tuesday during the anti-Right to Work demonstration in Lansing.  Two can play at taking away the political comfort zone.  Make them keep paying overtime to those 400 officers and troopers it took to make them feel safe.
Stay in the streets that still belong to us or wait and let them sell the streets to privateers and then we'll be trespassers.  Your choice.

ALEC took no position on SB 59.  Michigan Students for Concealed Carry, Michigan Gun Owners, and the NRA (of which I'm a member) did.  There's always room for a dash of precision.

        •  ALEC supports ALL gun-nut laws (0+ / 0-)

They eased off the throttle in PUBLIC as far as making it a high priority because they felt bad publicity was slowing down their main agenda of stripping as much money as possible from ordinary citizens and shoveling it up to the billionaires, but of course they still support it "in principle."

Now that the GOP lackeys have decided to go full fascist in their wild stampede to ram through any bill ALEC ever farted in the general direction of supporting, they decided they had to pass the gun-nut bills too.

Even money these fuckers reinstitute slavery by sundown. (I know they cannot 'reinstitute' slavery because Michigan has never had it but in their mad rush to pass anything and everything ALEC has ever been in favor of, they will probably pass it anyway.)

  •  Where's the media on this? (1+ / 0-)

It would be great if some of the national media would actually do their damn jobs, and report on the fact that ALEC is controlling our legislation in many states and wake some people up to the fact.

  •  I'm still seething with anger about what these (0+ / 0-)

damn republiCONS have done to our great state.  We've become a national joke.  The media may comment on it - but basically, we're Michissippi now.  I knew Snyder was a wuss - easily pushed around by the money/power guys. And the GOP congress critters are stupid teabaggers.  Even George Romney is rolling over in his grave. At least I think this lame duck session is done and can't do more damage before the new session starts and then the Dems better get off their butts and get to work turning everything around where it was before these idiots forced their extreme views down our throats. There - I'm cliche'd out.
