Every morning before I get ready to go to work, I check out Morning Joe. And today, their business guy stated that the United States is facing a 63 trillion problem with Medicare in the future. This indeed is a daunting figure to wrap your mind around and it is scary.
While the present debate on all sides is focusing on low ball figures of a one-four trillion fiscal cliff/ debt ceiling numbers, this will not be enough to help us even if it would trim up our present budget deficit.
I have said this so many times..if we fix Medicare, we fix our finances.
The best way to do this is to put an alternative on the ACA exchange in each state and set up a health care company whose profits go into Medicare coffers to help with its shortfall.
Plus exact a percentage of all other health care companies of their profits and that also will go into Medicare coffers.
As it stands now, private health care insurance providers take all the profit out for themselves and Wall Street while Medicare faces a deficit of 63 Trillion.
Most of us want Medicare to survive but it looks like it will not be able to due to its finances. Single payer ultimately is the only way out of this financial disaster in the making.
