The slaughter at Sandy Hook has pushed the fiscal cliff off the front page.
John Boehner gets to take a day off from making empty threats.
Still, in macro policy terms, getting the tax and spending changes done is still the country's biggest issue.
I believe--and I could be wrong--that Obama backed off fighting for Susan Rice as Secretary of State to prevent distracting the focus from Republican obstruction regarding America's economic future.
I think that trying to raise a liberal "second front" by fighting for gun control now is a bad idea. I do not want the Republican base energized.
Gun control is a public health issue. I do not know if gun control will work but it won't make things worse. Repealing the second amendment is fine with me. Just not now.
By the way, for FOX News and the Bengazi bashers on Susan Rice: Sandy Hook reporting errors in the early going were a first hand demonstration of how early information can be wrong.
