Isn't that what Charlton Heston Said?

Well let me tell you something. Things are gonna change and y'all better get used to it.  I don't know exactly what shape it's gonna take at this point, but there ain't no stopping it now. If you want input, you better accept that. You're right to own a WMD ends with my kids, or anyone's right to life.

There will be better regulation, because guns (or militias which somehow became "guns") in the country are not "well regulated" as the consitution INSISTS they must be.

There will be new laws and there will be comprehensive solutions that includes mental health issues including screenings for anyone that wants a firearm. There may be screenings for your family and household members as well. I can tell you this, it WILL be thorough. You want a gun? You get checked by a doctor first. Period.

There will be limits on what types of weapons you can own, how many etc.  There will be collection of illegal types of firearms and those that are in excess of the amount you are limited to by law. I'm sure we can arrange a grace period and maybe reimbursements etc. for turning in your weapons. That we can discuss. See? Aren't we sweet?

And oh, guess what? You want a gun? You will be paying for it all. Yup. These programs will be paid for by the ammo that you buy and taxes on the guns and registration fees and copays and whatever other revenue source we can tack on to make owning a gun legally VERY expensive. Because it MUST after all PAY to make sure we are all SAFE from you and your guns.

And if you don't comply? Well, then you will be an outlaw. And you can make your stand. And we will pry them from your cold, dead, selfish hands.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
