This will probably be short but I just have to get this off my chest. I am really sick and tired of hearing how violent video games are to blame for tragedies like the one in Newtown. In the 80's it was violent movies and heavy metal. In the 90's it was violent rap, movies and video games. These are all easy things to blame for what happened in Newtown.
The shooter did not go and shoot a bunch of kids because he played call of duty or any of the other first person shooters out there. He did it because he was a sick bastard with mental issues period.
Further he was not some "impressionable" kid, he was a 20 year old. He knew damn well what he was doing and no amount of violence as seen in video games or on TV could cause someone to go do this type of thing.
In this case you had a troubled young man and a survivalist mother. There are no secret messages in a call of duty game, there are no hidden lyrics when a song is played backwards. You have a sick kid with access to his gun-nut mother's collection of guns and ammo. The problem here is not a video game.
