because of my last diary. Yes, I was very angry. It was indeed a rant, vent, spleen purge, not completely well considered at that moment. But, it was from the gut, and it was CORRECT!

As I predicted, they’re going to sell us out, and we should have all been doing exactly what I’ve been doing all this time which is yelling to high heaven, “No Grand Bargain”, an No cuts to ScoSec, Medicare, or Medicaid! Because by everything that’s sacred, I just knew that the oligarchy would have their way no matter who had won the election and by what margin.

Let’s face it, what we should all be yelling is forget this debt, austerity, cut farce all together, and let’s get busy with stimulus and JOBS! I keep using the word “yelling” which means, call, write, e-mail, tweet, blog, and generally out-shout the corporate owned, BS, Media-Propaganda-Machine (yes, I mean all of them, not just Fox.) at the grass roots level. We should be listening to Krugman, Reich and Stiglitz, and be “getting all FDR” with the economy, before we do become Greece and Europe with a double-dip austerity recession. That’s the message I want to hear on the news 24x7. Not debt, debt, debt… Which we all know is a complete red herring! However the party of FDR only speaks about B.S. Bowles/Simpson.

The point I was making then, and want to reiterate now is that our side is not much different than their side. The President recently remarked that if this were the 1980s he would be considered a moderate Republican! I think the Congress and the Administration just proved it with Monday’s offer and some of the supporting comments we heard. We all need to continue to be vigilant, and noisy. As we were just taught, even though we think we won a mandate, and made it Crystal Clear what that mandate is, it just doesn’t matter. The oligarchy rules, and the minute we look the other way, we get a big surprise! I don’t stand for a party, I stand for progressive principles! We need to hold our leaders to task, no matter the side, to be sure they bend to OUR will, not big money, or unseen powers. Maybe those points got lost in the emotion of my last diary.

More than before, I’ve Had Enough! I’m going to continue to Yell, until people listen. What do I have to lose? We won the election. I’d like to be sure I have something to show for it. We need to make sure they keep their word.

I also believe that it’s our responsibility to change the conversation since the media isn’t going to. We need to stop reacting to the themes that the “Serious People” keep offering up as important, and assert our own priorities from down here. I’ve been blogging, tweeting, and face-booking; “Just say no to debt-debt-debt, and say YES to Jobs-jobs-jobs” for a few weeks now. And I don’t just mean inside the safety of our own bubble. I’m sending items to TV stations/networks and newspapers; on Facebook where my conservative friends are probably ready to un-friend me; blasting people, politicians, and organizations on twitter. Maybe it’ll make an impression on someone. What if they were getting bombarded with these from all of us?

I’m tired of being TOLD what’s important, we’re in charge, how about we tell YOU what WE think is important? Can you honestly tell me that you feel that this is currently the situation? Don’t you agree it should be?

"But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing.  It behooves you, therefore, to be watchful in your States as well as in the Federal Government." -- Andrew Jackson, Farewell Address, March 4, 1837

(Oh, and by the way I speak and write emotionally. If you want to take the time to count exclamation points, and improper capitalizations, as well as correct my spelling and grammar, you have way too much time on your hands. Perhaps it would be better spent on important causes like the ones I discuss? Sheesh! – Trees/Forest – Trees/Forest)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Until the 99%, who have bought into a false left-right dichotomy foisted upon them by the agents of the 1%, recognize the real power divide in this country and act for genuine change.

...Sometimes people want to see things corrected, not because they are being assholes, but because there is an actual good diary, or other good points being made, and the errors detract heavily form the message, especially if the intent is ti share that diary with others or recommend it.

    particularly on this:

WE should be all over the Federal government regarding jobs and building up a strong working class who get fair wages. THAT is what will save this country. It did before and it can again.

I am not willing to toss the "baby out with the bathwater" yet but, I am pretty bummed that NO ONE is talking about the real measures we need to take to fix our economy and our nation. (**BY real "real measures" I mean a WPA works style program to renew and modernize our infrastructre, nature areas, resource development, and other parts of our nation).

Which is worth, by the way, what you paid for it.....

This is a dance.  Two steps this way to lead the partner here, then a step this way for balance.....

I live in a representative democracy.  I would love it if all of my ideas were embraced and advanced by my representatives but not everyone agrees with me and the ones who don't are represented equally.  Compromise is how things get done. Letting the perfect be the enemy of the good is how things don't get done.  Social Security started out as a small program for widows and orphans and over a very long timespan, grew into the program we are fighting over today.  The new ACA isn't all I wanted but it's a damned good start.

I voted for this President.  A good man who generally comes down on the side that I support, even if not gaining everything I want.  I trust him, his intelligence, his integrity... to get the best deal he is able to get.... and not every news update is actually, "this is how it will be".  It's a negotiation... with weasels..... and it requires some gamesmanship and making some moves that might look sketchy at the time but are based on information that we, the public, don't always have.  Sometimes it's a maneuver.  Like in chess....  Sometimes it's a feint.  Like in boxing... or a fake or an alley oop or whatever it's called in football where you make it look like one thing but the ball ends up somewhere totally different.

I'm waiting patiently for President Obama to do his best and giving him the time and the latitude to do it without second guessing him at this point.

Hope you don't feel pilloried by my opposing viewpoint.

When you call the site a 'shill' as if we're all paid wageslaves for the Democratic party (I know I'm not), and oh, that's not good enough, then you come back just to call everyone morons, well.

not completely well considered at that moment.

Why not wait until we know for sure what is in the bill and what isn't? If you and everybody else is gonna let the media lead you by the nose down all of these blind alleys, then you better load up on the Tums 'cause they are just getting started.

    •  You're missing the point (0+ / 0-)

I'm NOT reacting to the media, I'm saying just keep telling them what we want, and that we won't bend, and we elected you to do THIS, and DO IT!

No media needed, no compromise involved, no equivocation. I don't care what the bill IS and Isn't.. I know what I want it to be! And I think I need to tell them that!

      Right?

What is it with all this soft and mushy, play the game, don't upset anyone stuff? Do we want what we want, or don't we? Do we stand for what we stand for, or don't we?

If we do, than just Stand For It!
