According to TPM
Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), one of the conservative lawmakers "purged" from a committee seat by House leadership earlier this month, issued a release gloating over the fact that Speaker John Boehner's "Plan B" to avert the so-called fiscal cliff failed on Thursday night due to lack of support.
"On a separate note, Republican leadership thought they could silence conservatives when they kicked us off our Committees," Huelskamp said. "I’m glad that enough of my colleagues refused to back down from the threats and intimidation, thus preventing the Conference from abandoning our principles."
Wow. This is a brazen statement. He spit in Boehner's eye. What are you going to do about it Boehner?
Is anyone else enjoying this all-out civil war within the GOP? I love it. There are two consequences to this I think: first, the public will blame GOP for impending cliff because they don't even have the discipline to pass a bill in their own caucus. Second, it confirms to everyone that Republicans would rather let taxes for middle class expire, than let taxes on millionaires expire. Remember, that this bill only raised taxes on millionaires, so they can't use the excuse that Paul Ryan uses that this bill affects small businesses. This is a truly pathetic spectacle, and this statement by Huelskamp summarizes it perfectly.
